ZLDS11X Series

ZLDS11X sensors are optical displacement measuring devices for non contact precision measurement of distance or thickness, width and difference .

The series includes seven lines of models:
ZLDS112 - small size sensors
ZLDS113 - Small Measurement Ranges sensors
ZLDS114 - Offering 10 Different Measuring Ranges
ZLDS115 - Longer Measurement Ranges sensors

The ZLDS11X is a compact unit in which optics, sensor, and signal processing electronics are all integrated. The distance to an object is detected by means of the triangulation principle. A focused laser beam forms a spot on the measuring object. The image of the spot is reflected onto a position detector, a CCD camera, and the ZLDS11X converts this position into the distance to the object by advanced mathematical procedures.

The output signal is provided in 3 different manners. One digital output, an RS232 or RS422 serial output, provides the distance to the object with a frequency of 1000, 2000, 5000 or 10000 Hz acording to Model. At the same time two analog outputs deliver the measured distance, one as a 1 - 9 V DC signal and the other as a 4 - 20 mA current loop.

The ZLDS112 Laser Distance Sensor has as Unique Relation Between Minimum Size and Maximum Quality. 


Small in Size, but Big in Versatility.


The advanced electronic and camera is well protected by a solid aluminum body.


ZLDS112 is introduced with three different measurement ranges from 50 to 400 mm.


The sensor uses a standard USB interface for Windows as well as Unix environments.


Cables are fitted with a micro-B connector at the sensor end and a USB-A connector at the other end.

This compact and light sensor design offers all the advanced features of our bigger and heavier sensors in the ZLDS11X sensor families, they can be connected for synchronized thickness/difference measurement without the need of additional control box or special calibration.


There are 5 different measuring ranges in this series. From 5 mm over 10, 25 and 50 to 100 mm. 


Software with every ZLDS113 sensor provides easy setting of the Select parameters


The compact and robust housing of solid aluminum is suitable for most kind of environments, and the applications are innumerable and extend from laboratory usage to steel works and the offshore industry – wherever a noncontact precision measurement is advantageous.


These ZLDS113 models have a Select functionality, which means that the sensor can be programmed to use various filters and modes, and the settings also works in combination.


Distance measurement on target with High Temperature.  To meet this demands, the ZLDS113 family can be modified into High Temperature version to reach different levels of temperature, basically named HT, VHT and VVHT. As a rather unique feature the VVHT version are capable of measuring on extreme hot target surfaces up to 2.200ºC.

ZLDS114 is a Serie of Sensors Offering 10 Different Measuring Ranges, Compact Housing and Attractive Pricing.


The ZLDS114 sensor family is fully integrated, light and robust, and offer all the well-known features of ZLDS11X  sensors. The measuring principle is optical triangulation.


There are 10 different measuring ranges in this series, operates from 50 mm over 100, 200, 300, 500 up to 750 mm.

Correct thickness measurement requires that the sensors are interconnected for synchronized operation


Distance measurement on target with High Temperature. To meet this demands, the ZLDS114 family can be modified into High Temperature version to reach different levels of temperature, basically named HT (1.000ºC.), VHT (1.300ºC.) and VVHT (1.500ºC.). As a rather unique feature the VVHT version are capable of measuring on extreme hot target surfaces up to 2.200ºC.


Water-cooled protection house is available as extra. To further expand the usability of ZLDS114 sensors for High Temperature applications, we have developed a water-cooled protection house in stainless steel to enclose the sensors.The sensor is surrounded on all sides except from the backside by 5 water chambers. This ensures a very effective cooling and allow the sensor to operate close the hot targets like white glowing steel.

ZLDS115 is a Series of Sensors for the Longer Measurement Ranges. Measures Distance, Thickness or Profiles up to 4 Meters from Sensor.


Compared to the other ZLDS11X series, the ZLDS115 sensors are physically bigger, and they are in generally being used for larger measuring ranges or for applications where a longer stand-of distance is needed in combination with high resolution. There are 10 different measuring ranges in this serie. The smallest is 100 mm and the longest i 2000 mm.The resolution varies from 0.01 mm to 0.5 mm. The smaller the measuring range is, the better the resolution will be. As standard the 1 kHz and 2 kHz models are classified as class 2, which mean that they are not harmful to the human eye. The 10 kHz sensors most be expected to be laser class IEC 3R.


ZLDS115 models are available with measuring frequencies of 1 kHz, 2 kHz and 10 kHz


All ZLDS115 models have a Select functionality, meaning that the sensor can be programmed to create a user defined running average before the measuring results are being outputted.


There are 2 simultaneous outputs: One Serial interface, and one analog output, 1–9 VDC or 4-20mA, chosen at the time of ordering

-Measuring principle-

The Triangulation Technique is an Ancient Yet Very Accurate Way of Measuring Distance.

In a high quality laser sensor, a CCD-camera is used to record the emitted laser light. The way to illustrate this measuring principle is to follow a ray tracing from the laser optics to the target, and back to the CCD-camera.

For laser triangulation sensors of the highest quality, there is naturally more to it than the basic principle. To obtain the absolutely best measuring quality, advanced and powerful digital electronics must be used all the way from the recording CCD-camera to the output signals.
